Where Are They Now?
It's been ten years since the near-disastrous events in Haling Cove. Apart from a few scattered rift openings throughout the 2019-2020 school year, all has gone quiet in the quaint New England town and the school has become just another school. And so, life goes on...

Name:
Age:
Occupation: What's their job?
Residence: Where do they live?
Personal life: Are they married? Dating? Enjoying the single life? Do they already have kids?
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? If not, where did they go to school? What was it like?
After graduation: What did they find themselves doing? Did they jump right into their career? Did they have any encounters with the Shadow World since leaving Haling Cove?
Now as an adult: What are they up to? How did they get here?
Are they happy?: The answer had better be yes.
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Lenore warned against sharing too readily because fear and mass hysteria only strengthens Shadows, but without the contract they can technically talk about what happened. Getting people to believe them and to remember any evidence they're shown, though, might be a challenge.
Anything else?:
A cute gif: Optional. You can find a gif of them all grown up, or just as they are!

Date: 2019-07-05 05:50 pm (UTC)Age: 26
Occupation: Manny and attending nursing school
Residence: East Lansing, MI
Personal life: Single, but full of love to give
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? You betcha!
After graduation: He attended Michigan State University (Go Spartans!) and would visit home every other weekend.
Now as an adult: After graduating from MSU, Gregory enrolled in their nursing grad program, while also working as a manny. The owner of the manny company sees Gregory has a surrogate son and is grooming him to take over the business someday. Gregory will have to decide between that and his nursing career.
Are they happy?: Uhh. YES. What kind of question is this?
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Many, many people.
Anything else?: He has two cats named UNO and DRAW TWO.

RESPONSES: Sabrina Lane
Date: 2019-07-05 10:00 pm (UTC)Age: 26
Occupation: Government Contractor. Any details beyond that are highly classified.
Residence: Her formal residence is in DC, but she never stays in the same place for too long.
Personal life: Sabrina has no time and no desire to date, but she will fucking step on you if you call her "married to her job."
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? She tested out of school after her junior year. Without the threat of the end of the world looming over their heads, she didn't feel like she needed to go to school all the way across the country anymore. But she also didn't really see her being able to go back to just regular ass high school, so she bailed on that shit.
After graduation: Sabrina's college career did not go exactly how her parents expected. Instead of being the obsessively focused child they raised her to be, she felt listless without a clear purpose, and she bounced between a couple schools before she up and joined the military.
Now as an adult: She graduated with a degree in Computer Science and she may or may not be an assassin. Whatever she does, she can't talk about it, which all y'all should understand.
Are they happy?: As happy as Sabrina is capable of being.
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Only as a very dry, deadpan joke.
Anything else?: Cheryl and I are already writing an AU where Bourne Identity Sabrina winds up in Tennessee and winds up needing help from an unusual source, one of her old high school classmates.

RESPONSES: Liam Blumenthal
Date: 2019-07-05 10:43 pm (UTC)Age: 27
Occupation: PhD Candidate & Researcher, Psychology
Residence: Pittsburgh, PA
Personal life: Marty and Liam got married a few years after high school. It was very no fuss, a run down to the courthouse so we can buy a house together and deal with medical issues if they arise type deal. They had a party later at a bar and made everyone buy them drinks since they were newlyweds. They have wedding band tattoos. They don't have any children, yet, but Liam's baby sister Penelope is kind of their training kid. They also have at least two dogs and a cat.
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? Yes, Liam didn't suuuper want to come back, but free tuition, a good reference and friends kept him. He pushed for the founding of a boxing club with Marty, probably joined tennis if Kyra started that up, and generally loaded up on extracurriculars to keep himself busy since they weren't fighting anymore.
After graduation: Attended Pitt University undergrad, and later started a PhD in Psychology at Carnegie Mellon. It's entirely likely that Liam and Marty could've had Shadow World encounters again because there's no way they didn't eventually get bored as shit and try to take up vigilantism at some point. Lord knows Liam's had to talk the both of them out of an arrest for getting in fights with Waffle House patrons a hundred times in the last ten years.
Now as an adult: Liam's trying to complete his PhD in Psychology. It's just about wrapped up. He's studying child psychology with a primary intent in counseling kids who've Seen Some Shit. He is hopelessly in love with his hot fireman husband. He and Marty are sort of tossing around adopting a child (once Penelope is old enough to babysit for them), but Marty's probably going to find a baby in a basket outside the firehouse and bring it home.
Are they happy?: PhD Programs are Hell, but Liam's the happiest he's ever been.
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: A little bit with his parents. He told Penelope everything while she blew bubbles. Mostly I think he'd just find solace with the people he went through it all with.

RESPONSES: Henry Arany
Date: 2019-07-06 12:52 am (UTC)Age: Twenty-eight
Occupation: Violinist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra
Residence: Chicago, IL
Personal life: Dating a French horn player also with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She's petite, adorable, headstrong, and clearly the more grounded of the two, though she can be a lot of fun when they don't have rehearsal the next morning. Henry has talked to his squad moms about popping the question. What do you guys think???
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? Henry finished up at Finchwood Academy! He couldn't just leave Monet and the rest of Squad 9, could he?
After graduation: In the year leading up to graduation, Henry re-dedicated himself to his music and worked hard with Ms. Hayward to get into auditioning shape so he could study music in university. It took up a lot of his time, but it was worth it, since he was able to get into the Julliard School the following year. His mother was obviously thrilled, but he was really doing it more for himself this time. After completing a Bachelor of Music degree and part of a Master of Music degree (look, school is tedious, okay?), he left school and took a position with an orchestra, quickly making a solid reputation for himself.
Since leaving Finchwood, he's had no contact with any Shadows (and that's fine by him!), though he does still summon Hariel for a duet and to check out the world through another set of eyes. It'd get pretty lonely if they never saw each other, wouldn't it?
Now as an adult: When Henry was twenty-six, he landed a spot in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and he's been there ever since. It's a demanding position and the competitive aspects still tend to stress him out, but he's mostly learned to just focus on the music and on doing the best that he can do and trying to not to dwell on the rest. He writes some music on the side and may someday make the transition from musician to composer, but he's where he wants to be for the time being.
Are they happy?: Very~
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: No. Henry's happy to leave the past in the past and only share that confusing, chaotic, frightening, exciting time of his life with his Finchwood friends.
Anything else?: He has a group chat with Pansy, Monet, and Tate and sends them the dumbest texts. But it's out of love, so it's fine??

RESPONSES: CC Day
Date: 2019-07-06 01:32 am (UTC)Age: 26
Occupation: Admin Assistant/Photographer
Residence: Detroit, MI
Personal life: Single. A little bit of a serial monogamist.
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? CC definitely came back to Finchwood, though her parents were extremely unsure about it.
After graduation: Wandered around aimlessly for a summer. Somehow got into the University of Michigan, where she managed to achieve a BA in Art & Design. Backpacked with her brother for a while when he decided not to go pro w hockey. Came back to Detroit and never really left.
Now as an adult: Chillin'! CC is coasting. Her life revolves around her job for the most part (she works admin for a small start-up full of bros and isn't GREAT at it but is close friends with all of them). Does wedding and other photography on the side. At this stage in her life, she's... conceptualizing trying to make that her primary career, but it's been difficult to make the jump without totally selling out.
Are they happy?: Totally. She's CC.
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: CC tried to tell her college girlfriend once after an especially heinous house party experience. They broke up not that long afterward (it made things weird). Other than that, she... honestly doesn't think much about this stuff. Once in a while it'll come up with old friends. Anyone she still visits/keeps in touch with from the Finchwood era probably hears a random thought about stuff here n there, especially old squadmates n Jr Wands. ♥ Who... all absolutely receive random selfies/pictures with no context to this day.
Anything else?: ♥

RESPONSES: Martin Geary
Date: 2019-07-06 02:33 am (UTC)Age: 28
Occupation: Fire fighter
Residence: Pittsburgh, PA
Personal life: Married to Liam. They got courthouse married for practical reasons without telling anyone before hand, then called all their friends afterward to party about it. They have no kids yet, but they do have two dogs, a cat, and take frequent care of Liam’s little sister, who is now ten.
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? Finished out his senior year at Finchwood and actually managed to graduate, barely.
After graduation: After graduation, there was absolutely zero chance this boy was going to college. His plan had been to enlist in the military, but he didn’t want to do that anymore, so he wasn’t sure what to do with himself. So he just sort of followed Liam to college and got an apartment with him. He worked a series of shitty jobs before settling into doing construction while moonlighting as a stripper.
Now as an adult: He was content building things and shaking it at bachelorette parties, but he didn’t do that forever. While dancing in a skanky fireman’s costume, it occurred to him that maybe that was a job he could do for real. He makes a point to keep up with his Finchwood friends, even if they don’t live close by, and he visits his family in TN sometimes. He HOPES they keep running into Shadows because he’s an asshole who likes to fight.
Are they happy?: Yes.
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Marty talked to his brother, Walter about it. He explained everything, showed him his Persona and all the proof he could (Shadow World selfies etc), and told him why he made him go home. The immediate aftermath was that things were even worse between them, but it did set the stage for them to reconcile eventually down the line.
Anything else?: Discuss my worst boy. I honored his demise by setting off so many fireworks.

RESPONSES: Mason Chambers
Date: 2019-07-06 08:23 pm (UTC)Age: 26
Occupation: Owns his own bookstore, which means he has a flexible schedule for continuing to research/fight Shadow Stuff on the side.
Residence: NYC, in his bookstore (which isn’t zoned for residency, so don’t tell anyone)
Personal life: Dating Hamsi 😳 they finally figured it out
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? Finished school at Finchwood
After graduation: After graduation, Mason went right to college at Columbia, taking advantage of Finchwood references and money. While there, he changed his major like five times before settling on social sciences with a minor in writing. Finding a job once you graduate is hard, though, and he ended up working in a small bookstore for a couple of years.
Now as an adult: A year ago, the owner of the bookstore passed away and, as she had no heirs, she left it to Mason. He’s been trying to navigate running a small business. Also, he still actively researches Shadow Stuff and travels to locations that seem to be having issues with it to examine/help. To this end, he keep in contact with former Finchwood staff as best he can (do Denizens have cell phones??). He’s trying to compile his research, in case anyone else in the future needs it. He’s also working on a series of young adult novels semi-based on their adventures that he may never actually finish.
Are they happy?: Yes
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Not really. Mason still researches/seeks out strange occurrences, and he talks to the people he encounters, but they’ve already seen the weird shit too.
Anything else?: His grown up PB was aalllmost Chidi, but instead it’s Echo Kellum, so I guess Mason had a hell of a growth spurt.

RESPONSES: Adam Ho
Date: 2019-07-06 08:35 pm (UTC)Age: Twenty-eight
Occupation: Research & Development Lead at Imugi Technologies
Residence: San Francisco, California
Personal life: Adam's habit of complicated, volatile relationships didn't end when he left Finchwood Academy. He dated a fiercely intelligent but fiercely competitive girl throughout much of his time in undergrad, married her when he was twenty-two (even though all of his friends told him not to), and divorced her when he was twenty-three. Because they just fought...all the time. He then proclaimed his intention to stay single but went on to date and break up with a number of other girls. It just never seems to work out. But who cares, anyway? He doesn't care. This is fine. And he definitely never gets drunk with Scout and tells him that he envies what he has with Flint or anything like that.
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? N/A
After graduation: Immediately after graduation, Adam dragged all of the Senior Swords on a trip to South Korea (thanks for your help with that passport, Pearl!) and it was great. You're welcome. After that, he headed to school at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he studied Mathematics and Computer Science during his undergraduate years and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science during his doctoral years. In total, it was about nine years of additional schooling and he excelled there. He didn't spend all nine of those years in a classroom, though, as he returned home every summer to work in his father's company alongside his brothers and completed an internship there with a research and development branch. So, while his social life was a garbage fire, his academic life was quite accomplished. After completing his studies, he returned to California for good to take his place in the family business.
While he hasn't had the time to go looking for Shadows, he's been keeping his eyes open and told the Velvet Room denizens to do the same and keep him on speed dial. Fighting Shadows gave his life very clear purpose once and he wouldn't ever turn down the option of revisiting that. I think it's safe to say he's had a few adventures here and there over the years.
Now as an adult: Adam works for his father's company, Imugi Technologies, in a lead research and development role. While he's not fit to be the face of the company or deal with people directly, he's certainly got a lot of influence, a lot of access, and a lot of power there. He does well in this position and only very occasionally bickers with Isaac.
While Minnie has since passed away (Rest In Peace angel doggo), he now has two young doggos that he's training and that he would kill for.
Are they happy?: Sometimes. Adam still has anger problems and his failure with relationships often leaves him feeling frustrated
and lonely, but he's accomplished and he enjoys his work and his life is fulfilling in those regards. He could definitely be happier and he's trying to get there, but he doesn't really know how. Check back in with him in another ten years.Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Yes. Adam has come clean about almost everything to his brothers, finding support in Ethan and an unexpected ally in Isaac. As control of the company is gradually shifting to the three brothers, there's been quiet discussion of a side project within the company to start developing anti-Shadow weapons (à la Persona 3). They've even hired Mr. Moreno in preparation for this. As far as Adam's concerned, this is the sort of path Mr. Gladstone would have taken if he weren't such an idiot.
Anything else?: He has, in fact, learned how to do his own laundry. So. That's an accomplishment.
Discussion here.

RESPONSES: Hamsi Khan
Date: 2019-07-06 09:35 pm (UTC)Age: 26
Occupation: Part-time bookstore clerk, and full time indie game dev. It started as a hobby in college, wanting to be more financially independent from her wealthy moms, she put out bizarre little puzzle games on the app store (one of them features a sphinx cat and a roomba prominently). She's made a couple of Shadow-inspired tower defense games and more recently an RPG, and frequently collaborates with Mason on projects - he gives her ideas, writing and illustrations. Right now she's working on her own take on the cutesy life management sim that draws inspiration from her experience fighting Shadows.
Residence: Hamsi technically has a place with her brother, Arthur, in Manhattan. And she's certainly not contributing to even half the rent cost. But she spends a lot of her nights at Mason's place, anyway.
Personal life: Dating Mason, finally. Took them long enough, but they sorted things out sometime between their senior year of high school and second year of college, probably.
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? Yes, of course. Hamsi started to come into her own through her junior year, less burdened by feeling like she was just a reflection of the people in her life. Though still a little shit living on her own planet, she matured quite a bit and found her footing.
After graduation: Having improved herself dramatically, and with Finchwood + her mother's references, Hamsi managed to follow Mason to Columbia where she majored in Computer Science. Turns out she had a real knack for it and thrived in the more loose structure of university-level education. She was making money on her own by the time she'd gotten a bachelor's and saw no reason to continue on with more education or seek out a traditional job.
Now as an adult: Bombards Squex via text message with every ridiculous thought that comes to her brain. Harasses the Sarnos and maybe had a walk on in their reality show? Mainly, she devs, updates and debugs her games and helps to support Mason in his various endeavors, whether that's running a cash register at his bookshop or helping him hunt Shadows.
Are they happy?: When is she not?
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Nah. She talked to her brother about it and that's about it. Even in her games that don't draw obvious influence from the Shadows they fought, if you look, you can see hints of Finchwood and what happened there in just about every game she's put out.
Anything else?:
A cute gif:
RESPONSES: Monet
Date: 2019-07-09 04:51 am (UTC)Age: 27?? 28?? fuck idk
Occupation: Jr Architect.
Residence: Chicago, IL.
Personal life: It's none of your business, but she may have just started a little bit dating a certain longtime friend and co-conspirator now that they're in the same city. The first one that popped into your head, probably. But again: none of your business.
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? Monet is a proud graduate of Finchwood. It would have been difficult to keep her away, even if there was a lot to adjust to after returning.
After graduation: Went into the family business, sort of. Enrolled at Notre Dame for Architecture and remained there for graduate studies afterward. Did some costuming for a handful of community theater projects. Learned to cook. Attended therapy like it was her job. Kept tabs on her Squad like it, too, was also her job. All in all, she's been extremely busy.
Now as an adult: Monet recently surprised everyone by accepting a position at a firm in Chicago after graduating with her M.Arch (there was literally no warning; she just appeared in the city with a new life all set up). She's sorting out a few things. She's working way too many hours. But she's taking things a day at a time and allowing herself room to grow and make mistakes.
Are they happy?: Yes, actually.
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Monet tried just once to open up to her brother and family about... everything, but found it extremely difficult and... frankly gave up. Thankfully, they all forgot and/or remember it as some sort of abstract stress outburst. Now that it's been a few years, though, she finds she wants to speak about what happened. She just hasn't figured out how, apart from shoving Habuhiah in their faces.
Anything else?: ♥
A cute gif:
Surprise, she's blonde now.
RESPONSES: Lucy
Date: 2019-07-09 05:43 am (UTC)Age: 28.
Occupation: Tattoo Artist, Bartender.
Residence: Wherever. Primarily New York.
Personal life: A work in progress. Lucy is still hard to get to know and doesn't open up easily to others. After some time apart to go insane on separate planes, however, she reconnected with Dustin and they're doing their... thing... still. She loves him.
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? N/A.
After graduation: Went insane. Dropped off the face of the earth. Seriously, no one heard from Lucy for two or three years. Her grandfather died shortly after the events of endgame, which threw her into an existential spiral. She spent most of the inheritance he gave her fucking around, getting into bad situations, traveling, buying drugs, obsessively collecting and studying esoterica, etc. Though she resurfaced for friends occasionally (mainly via postcards and texts from weird numbers) there was a brief time in which her parents weren't sure where she was or if she was alive. But she scraped herself out of that pit eventually. Getting an apprenticeship and working on art again helped, as well as reconnecting with spirituality in a healthy way.
Now as an adult: Lucy has come up as a semi-famous tattoo artist with a very distinctive style. She's well-known online and in strange circles for her Occult Studies. She also tends bar part-time and very recently began writing music again. In many ways, she is still picking up the pieces from her "Adventure" a few years ago. There are a lot of broken bridges that need to be mended. But she's working on it. Slowly.
Are they happy?: Mostly. She has everything she needs.
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Lucy told her parents about it before venturing off on her own -- even providing proof, as much as she could -- but it only served to underline their concerns about her mental state. It infuriated her. Now, she rarely discusses it with anyone, though she has extended her services for consultation toward Adam as well as other relevant parties. Still, she makes a lot of art about what happened, her experiences, and her feelings about those experiences. She also summons Yeialel almost every day still, and for a long time they were her only confidante.
Anything else?: ♥
A cute gif:
Couldn't bleach her hair forever.
RESPONSES: Pansy Tipson
Date: 2019-07-09 05:47 am (UTC)Age: 28
Occupation: Lawyer
Residence: Chicago, IL
Personal life: Pansy has recently started dating Monet. Of course, she's respectful of Monet's preference for privacy while they add a little romance to their intense, unique friendship. Buuuuut it's not like she's going to deny what's going on. And hey, now that you brought it up, Pansy's gonna tell you all about how great Monet is.
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? N/A
After graduation: After Finchwood, Pansy took a gap year and road tripped around the country, visiting her friends at college. After the events of their senior year, she needed a little time to decompress and transition back to "normal" life. She then attended UChicago and then went on to get her JD at Yale.
Now as an adult: Pansy has been back in Chicago for the last two years, working as a labor lawyer, representing unions. She loves fighting against large corporations with their power and wealth. It's immensely satisfying beating them. She remains close to her siblings, many of whom are still in the midwest. She keeps in good touch with her friends from FWA, especially the Senior Swords and Squad 9. She was happy Henry was in Chicago and is very happy Monet recently moved there, too.
Are they happy?: Very.
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Not really with anyone outside of FWA. She'll primarily bring it up with Squad 9, more in a reminiscent way. She never really learns to turn off that part of her brain that is prepared for a Shadow encounter. But that alertness and preparedness serves her well in other ways.
Anything else?: Discussion here.

RESPONSES: Donovan McMorrow
Date: 2019-07-09 04:13 pm (UTC)Age: Twenty-six
Occupation: Resident (planning to specialize in neurosurgery...eventually). He also co-hosts a pretentious podcast about philosophy that technically earns him a bit of money, but that's really more of a hobby than a job.
Residence: Cambridge, MA
Personal life: Donovan's engaged to Cecilia. The two dated throughout the remainder of their time at Finchwood Academy, broke up for practical reasons when they went to different colleges for undergrad, but remained close and eventually got back together. They were in a long-distance relationship until Donovan started medical school at Harvard.
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? Donovan continued his education at Finchwood Academy, completing his junior and senior years there. During this time, he continued to be an insufferable overachiever and maybe became even more insufferable when he began Officially dating Cecilia. The two remained in constant competition and fought tooth and nail over the valedictorian spot. After their experiences in the caves, he took to treating Gregory and Mason as friends. Or something. Congratulations?
After graduation: To the surprise of absolutely no one, Donovan dove straight into college after graduation. He attended Stanford University, going in undeclared because of his broad academic interests before eventually narrowing his focus down to medicine. He cavalierly blames this on Imamiah; once a healer, always a healer, right? But he's also just fascinated by the complexities of the human body and maybe wants to help people or something. When it came time to actually start medical school, he traded Stanford in for Harvard. For 100% serious academic reasons and not to be closer to Cecilia.
Since leaving Finchwood, he hasn't gone looking for Shadows but if one happened to end up in his orbit he does have a couple of swords waiting around for old times' sake. The further he gets into his medical education, the more it bothers him that he can't use his Persona to help people more openly. It seems like a waste.
Now as an adult: Donovan is currently in his first year of residency and will be taking the first of his board certification exams relatively soon. His life is hectic, demanding, and challenging and there's still a lot of work to do but he wouldn't have it any other way.
Are they happy?: Yes.
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Not really. Donovan doesn't have that many close friends outside of his Finchwood associates and he doesn't typically talk to his parents about serious things. Besides, who would believe him or really be able to understand all that anyway?
Anything else?: This future is Colleen-approved~

RESPONSES: Suzy
Date: 2019-07-09 05:40 pm (UTC)Age: 28
Occupation: Yoga Instructor
Residence: Currently, wherever her gf is~
Personal life: Still with Kodi!!! (edit: had to add some exclamation points here) The two were a little bit long distance at first after graduating from Finchwood (it was ROUGH), but Suzy... eventually.... dropped out of school (gasp) & ended up following Kodi around instead. Now they're settled enough to have adopted a dog child and are very happy.
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? N/A.
After graduation: Suzy traveled around a little (specifically, she stayed in Korea for a few extra weeks after the Senior Swords trip) and then went back to California and started at Stanford in the fall. She completed about two years of an East Asian Studies/International Policy Studies double major before having a Major Freakout and dropping out (it was Shadow related, and kind of the last straw when it came to the various trauma/PTSD and constant nightmares she'd been dealing with since endgame :s). Su went on to live with her sister while she tried to get on her feet a bit, threw herself into yoga and meditation, aaaand very shortly afterward ran off to be with Kodi and support her through school.
Now as an adult: Suzy's a full-time Yoga Instructor at a very bougie studio. She also runs meditation sessions and several very successful social media accounts. She's constantly jetting off to various retreats and training sessions. The rest of her life revolves around travel (Suzy likes to commune With Nature and goes camping a lot, but also insists on visiting friends as often as possible), DANCE (she's got a CREW), taking care of her little family, aaaaaand very recently going back to school part-time so she can one day be a Nutritionist.
Are they happy?: Very!
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: At first, not really. After her meltdown, though, she opened up to Coco about it a lot. It was a very healing experience for Suzy. Other than that, she's a little shy about the subject. Her Personas still make appearances here and there now, but for a long time she was too nervous to summon them. Now that her life is more secure, though, she's openminded about maaaaybe starting to open up and/or trying to use her abilities to help with research or POSSIBLY vigilante kinda efforts. She bought a woldo the last time she was in Korea.

RESPONSES: Selby Denman
Date: 2019-07-09 07:35 pm (UTC)Age: Twenty-seven
Occupation: Teacher (Elementary School)
Residence: Sumter, South Carolina. Family's important to him and he ended up staying close to his.
Personal life: Selby's married to a man that works for the local police department and actually works under his mother, who is now the captain of that precinct. It's definitely never been awkward. While more outgoing and assertive than Selby, his husband matches him in temperament. Both men are good-natured, grounded, and patient, resulting in a relationship with a lot of open communication and very little friction. They're one of those couples and should be judged. While they've talked about adopting children, they haven't gotten there yet. They do, however, have a very good dog.
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? Selby returned to Finchwood Academy for his senior year, albeit a bit reluctantly. Junior year was hard on him (like it was for everyone) and it left him missing his family and ready to get back to a more mundane sort of life. He only came back because of his friends and because of a lingering uneasiness about whether or not things were actually over. Still, he made the most of that last year in Maine.
After graduation: Despite the resources available to him through Finchwood, Selby's life after graduation took a turn toward the simple. He returned to South Carolina and took a year off to focus on family, friends, and figuring out what he wanted. During that time he worked in a local greenhouse and spent a lot of time just processing the strangeness of his high school years. After that year off, he ended up attending the University of South Carolina Sumter so he could stay close to home and pursuing a degree elementary education. He didn't have any encounters with Shadows after returning from Maine, though he continued to practice his archery and to summon his Persona now and again. Just in case. He does both to this day.
Now as an adult: Selby's working as a teacher, currently with third-graders. He also runs a couple of after-school programs for the district, including craft days and a gardening club that meets a few times a week, growing fruit and vegetables which are donated to local families and persons in need. Still the warm and soft-hearted person he's always been, he's well-liked by students, parents, and other teachers. He's generally just living the quiet life. While he keeps in touch with friends from Finchwood (he writes a lot of letters on a lot of cute stationary), he doesn't see them as often as he'd like to.
Are they happy?: Yes~
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Selby tells his mother everything and, after the contract was no longer an issue, he came clean about everything that happened at Finchwood. While she was initially disturbed by the story and furious about the situation her son had been put in, she was also proud of him for doing the right thing and for the strong person he'd grown into. The two agree that Selby should probably tell his husband someday, but approaching the subject has been difficult.
Anything else?: He gets a different part-time job every summer to keep himself busy and expand his horizons.
Discussion here.

RESPONSES: KYRA
Date: 2019-07-09 11:23 pm (UTC)Age: 27
Occupation: She's an investment banker. Just starting out, but scouting enough loopholes to make the Big Bucks
Residence: Greenwich, CT at the Sarno's big reality tv house
Personal life: She married Marina a while ago. You were all invited to the yacht wedding in which Gremlin was the ring bearer and Still Sunny (Kyra's shiba inu after she was not allowed I am sure to take Real Sunny home) was the flower dog. It was a ridiculous affair. It was televised for millions. Marina threw a rotisserie chicken instead of a bouquet. Then they honeymooned in Japan mostly to visit the cat island. Kyra...loved it.
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? She couldn't do anything but go back to Finchwood. Marina went to start her reality show at home, but Kyra didn't want to be far from the rest of her squad. Besides. She still would've had to go back to Minnesota, and that's even further from Connecticut.
After graduation: Kyra found it extremely hard to turn off the Squad Leader identity, even after a year spent at Finchwood not playing sports for defensive purposes. She didn't go to college right after graduation. For a year, she hunted down shadows herself, went to visit all members of squelve (and Oshkosh B'Garbosh, sorry, guys,) an unbearable amount of times, and guest-starred quite a lot on the Sarno's reality show. (Her face was pixelated until her wedding at her own request. It almost certainly became a meme. The Censored Girlfriend? Something like that.) She exhausted herself in her old ways for a year. Then she finally entered therapy, saw her friends and how they were moving on, and decided it was time for her to do the same.
Now as an adult: Kyra went to Wesleyan for a business degree, then University of Connecticut for her MBA, all while Marina was at Yale. (Kyra was never quite Yale material.) After graduation, she got a job as an investment banker, and now handles rich peoples' money for a living. She only exploits legal loopholes, but delights in being a little slippery. She sends money home all the time. And Marina got her a laundry person, so she never has to do laundry again. She is now rich enough to visit her friends a lot, and she does. She lives with Marina in her big house with at least Still Sunny and the instafamous, immortal Gremlin. No kids; she's not sure about That just yet.
Are they happy?: Oh, disgustingly.
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: She talked to her dad about it, because she was trying not to lie as much anymore. He didn't really understand, so she ended the conversation with something like, "Big shit went down; I'm not okay yet." He understood that. They hugged and watched movies. They're closer, a little.
Anything else?: I lied she grew up to be a Disney Princess

RESPONSES: Slade
Date: 2019-07-09 11:51 pm (UTC)Age: 2...6?
Occupation: He has a gosh darn auto mechanic store
Residence: in a small coastal town in Massachusets
Personal life: Soooo single
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? He finished up at Finchwood. I mean, Jordan James just started so he couldn't leave. He and JJJ became really good friends in his senior year, and Slade strongly encouraged a baseball team. It was kind of cool, going to normal school.
After graduation: He played minor league baseball right out of school. He had a shoulder injury and griped for days about it not being able to be instantly healed anymore. But anyway, that took him out of a major league career. After further griping, he decided to do the most normal thing he could think of: open an auto shop.
Now as an adult: His dads finally settled down near Salem, MA with a really large, sprawling haunted house with realistic ghosts taken from their adventures. Slade has only once used Rotty Meat Man to scare people. He doesn't live with them, but maintains a residence just down the highway and works on people's broken cars. He's something of a grouchy legend in his town already, but Halloween at his place is always the best.
Are they happy?: I mean sure.
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Nah. His New Bff Jordan James was confidant enough.
Anything else?: He sent Squex letters reminding them not to eat strange cheese until the close of time. He's positive it never worked but it's his never ending duty.
A cute gif:
RESPONSES: PEARL!
Date: 2019-07-10 02:11 am (UTC)Age: 28
Occupation: Music therapist!
Residence: PROBABLY wherever Atticus or Scout or Someone Else They follow does??? I feel like they wander a lot anyway. Pearl is working on starting her own practice so she can wander even more because she's kiiinda tied to wherever her job is right now.
Personal life: She never Quite remembered to marry Ces, but they still date. They've brought a few more people in and out of the relationship as they feel like it. Most of the time it's just them. Very recently, they've also acquired a baby that they have little to no idea what to do with but are inevitably delighted by.
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? She was done!
After graduation: Pearl had a Weird Summer! Most people were sad! She had no idea how to help! Her parents sent the rest of her earthly belongings in a box! She was effectively homeless and crashed on people's couches! She listened to sad music for the first time in a long time and almost compulsively summoned personae (new ones if she was able) just to do it/prove she still could. But she also put her nose to the grindstone and got a job. A very shitty job probably scooping ice cream a la Steve Harrington that she supplemented with teaching piano to kids, which she loved a lot. And then she went to the University of Southern Maine (University of Everyone) where the structure made her much calmer.
Now as an adult: She has her dream job which she got pretty easily after graduation and an apprenticeship. She works now in a psychiatric wing of a children's hospital, and she loves her job. She's taken more than a few troubled teens under her wing and maintained connections and listened to their songs. Maybe she takes on a little too much at work, but she doesn't think so.
After Lucy disappeared, it felt weird to sing or write music for herself, so Pearl stopped. She looked for her closely for a long time, and was so happy when she fell back to earth. Pearl maintains obsessive, annoying contact with all her Finchwood friends over the years, especially her squad.
Are they happy?: Always!
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Nah. She only talked about it with people she was in there with. It was okay.
Anything else?: ROBOPEEEARRLLL
A cute gif:
RESPONSES: Tate
Date: 2019-07-10 02:07 pm (UTC)Age: 28
Occupation: High School Science Teacher
Residence: Chicago, IL
Personal life: Tate is married to his slouch date sweetheart, Aurora Sanders. How did this happen, you ask? Even he's not entirely sure. He took her out following the whole Shadow World eating Haling Cove thing because he felt like she could probably use some more free food. They both ended up going to Syracuse, and she kept punching him in the lower back, and now they're married, he guesses? She's in sports management and is still heckling people.
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? ---
After graduation: Being the directionless bum that he is, Tate wandered back home to Syracuse, went to college, got irrevocably attached to Aurora, and then lived in New York City for a while. Any time anything vaguely Shadow-y popped up he sort of nerded out and contacted Mr. Moreno, but never had to bust out his Persona.
Now as an adult: With the convergence of Squad 9 in Chicago, Tate did something he's almost never done in his life, and that's actually pick a direction himself. Aurora must have been so impressed by this that she agreed, or something, because the two of them moved to Chicago and now live there. Tate is teaching high school, is definitely a weird teacher who skateboards in the parking lot after school, and has kept up with archery. He definitely said 'Nice' when he heard Monet and Pansy were dating.
Are they happy?: Oh hell yeah.
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Tate sort of told his sister about it, but was pretty vague about all the circumstances because he didn't want to worry her. She felt a little responsible given that she was the one that pushed him to go to Finchwood, but... well, at least everything is ok now.
Anything else?: I swear I'm doing my other kids too, Tate is just easy.
A cute gif: I know this is him the same age but please imagine Tate and Aurora:
RESPONSES: Lillian Armstrong
Date: 2019-07-15 08:09 pm (UTC)Age: 28
Occupation: Owns and runs Batty Bakery
Residence: Los Angeles, California
Personal life: Still too busy sticking her nose into her friends' personal lives to have her own.
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? N/A
After graduation: Lee hadn't really planned to survive the school year, so graduating left her sort of adrift. So, she decided to take a gap year to relax. She did not, in fact, relax, and probably obsessively texted all of her friends to check on their well being (sorry, not sorry). She also got a job at a bakery. She was not allowed to decorate desserts to be sold to the public, but she did learn a lot about business. After a year and a half or so, she went to the University of Florida, where she got a degree in Business.
Now as an adult: Lee owns her owns and runs the Batty Bakery. With a lot of practice, her dessert decorating skills have improved considerably. She runs community baking lessons/demonstrations from the shop. She also has her own blog, similarly titled the Batty Baker, that's two parts cooking blog, one part life advice blog. She volunteers often, and she would like to start a nonprofit some day, if she can find a niche that she could fill.
Are they happy?: Yes. I was told I couldn't kill her.
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: She told her Pops everything, and he had no trouble believing her.
Anything else?: Waits until everyone else gets out of the sandbox to play in it again
A cute gif: Discussion
RESPONSES: Scout Thoroughgood
Date: 2019-07-24 01:32 am (UTC)Age: God like 28 I guess
Occupation: MooCow Vet at a Dairy
Residence: 😬A rural location. Marin and I vaguely discussed this and I'm so tired and doing this so late, so just assume that they live in a small town somewhere, please. I am so lazy.
Personal life: Married to Flint! Still a soft boy, and likes wherever they're living in a lot because he'll always be a small town kind of guy. Still heart-eyes at Flint constantly.
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? N/A
After graduation: Told his family at graduation that he had a boyfriend and it went over better than expected! There was an adjustment period, but it wasn't horrible. He and Flint got married embarrassingly quickly, and Scout went to North Carolina State University for undergrad and then for his vet program, and was in school for forever.
Now as an adult: Gladstone's money helped him and Flint not drown in student debt, yay! They now have a very cute house (with probably a not great design aesthetic), live comfortably but modestly, have > 1 dog, and Scout keeps in touch with people from Finchwood very often.
Are they happy?: 10000%
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Scout never told his parents or siblings anything - his friends from Finchwood are enough support for him, so he'd rather not drag anyone else into it.
Anything else?: I know this is half-assed but I needed to do it :(
A cute gif: Goodbye my sweet soft boy
Re: RESPONSES
Date: 2021-03-11 06:39 am (UTC)Age: 27
Occupation: Actress
Residence: Hollywood with either Noah or Hadlee or both of them. Because I'm being nice to her, I think she responsibly owns a medium-nice house in the Valley with approximately this vibe.
Personal life: Absolutely still with Hadlee she's never getting rid of her sorry Rin
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? Yes because she's stupid
After graduation: She moved to LA to become famous! Again! Her youtube career did eventually translate into some acting gigs and she made a name for herself and now works semi-regularly in TV and very occasionally weird indies. As for the Shadow World, she remains convinced she has some sort of psychic abilities, and there is... light evidence backing this up.
Now as an adult: She plays Frankie on a gritty live action reboot of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends where all the imaginary friends are hot humans for some reason
Are they happy?: Yes, and she hasn't been murdered ONCE
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Yeah, she told Mrs. Ruskin pretty much everything, but she figured this was pretty low-stakes on the scale since she was around for everything and maybe already knew on some level. Besides that if she has to talk about it to someone it's one of her friends that lived through it with her.
Anything else?:
