From: [personal profile] selbydenman
Name: Selby Denman
Age: Twenty-seven
Occupation: Teacher (Elementary School)
Residence: Sumter, South Carolina. Family's important to him and he ended up staying close to his.
Personal life: Selby's married to a man that works for the local police department and actually works under his mother, who is now the captain of that precinct. It's definitely never been awkward. While more outgoing and assertive than Selby, his husband matches him in temperament. Both men are good-natured, grounded, and patient, resulting in a relationship with a lot of open communication and very little friction. They're one of those couples and should be judged. While they've talked about adopting children, they haven't gotten there yet. They do, however, have a very good dog.
If they weren't seniors, did they finish high school at Finchwood? Selby returned to Finchwood Academy for his senior year, albeit a bit reluctantly. Junior year was hard on him (like it was for everyone) and it left him missing his family and ready to get back to a more mundane sort of life. He only came back because of his friends and because of a lingering uneasiness about whether or not things were actually over. Still, he made the most of that last year in Maine.
After graduation: Despite the resources available to him through Finchwood, Selby's life after graduation took a turn toward the simple. He returned to South Carolina and took a year off to focus on family, friends, and figuring out what he wanted. During that time he worked in a local greenhouse and spent a lot of time just processing the strangeness of his high school years. After that year off, he ended up attending the University of South Carolina Sumter so he could stay close to home and pursuing a degree elementary education. He didn't have any encounters with Shadows after returning from Maine, though he continued to practice his archery and to summon his Persona now and again. Just in case. He does both to this day.
Now as an adult: Selby's working as a teacher, currently with third-graders. He also runs a couple of after-school programs for the district, including craft days and a gardening club that meets a few times a week, growing fruit and vegetables which are donated to local families and persons in need. Still the warm and soft-hearted person he's always been, he's well-liked by students, parents, and other teachers. He's generally just living the quiet life. While he keeps in touch with friends from Finchwood (he writes a lot of letters on a lot of cute stationary), he doesn't see them as often as he'd like to.
Are they happy?: Yes~
Did they ever try to talk to anyone about what happened in Haling Cove?: Selby tells his mother everything and, after the contract was no longer an issue, he came clean about everything that happened at Finchwood. While she was initially disturbed by the story and furious about the situation her son had been put in, she was also proud of him for doing the right thing and for the strong person he'd grown into. The two agree that Selby should probably tell his husband someday, but approaching the subject has been difficult.
Anything else?: He gets a different part-time job every summer to keep himself busy and expand his horizons.
