Welcome (back) to Finchwood Academy, kids! This year is going to be a whole different ball game, so we hope you're ready! Because all of the currently played characters were here last year, and because we obviously have a massive influx of characters all at once, this meme is to help you find your kids' places in the world.

Character Name: Adam Il-sung Ho
Concept Line: Spoiled misanthrope with a chip on his shoulder out to conquer the world.
Year and House: Senior Sword
Squad and Position: Squad #5 - Leader

Brief Summary: An intelligent, athletic, handsome rich boy with all the charisma of a brick. He's got a bad temper and mediocre social skills and he often tries to buy his friends to make up for his shortcomings. He's got a work hard/play harder mentality, making him a good student and an accomplished leader by day and a spoiled party boy by night that will always pick up the tab to make sure he and his friend have a good time and the best of everything. He probably enjoys punching Shadows to death a bit too much.

Last Year: While the truth about Finchwood Academy was a shock to Adam (particularly because he'd never seen the supernatural as anything but nonsense to roll his eyes at), he took to the sense of purpose that it offered quickly. He's always been an uncomfortable blend of ambitious and aimless and this felt like something he could do and do well. He worked hard in training and excelled there, both in combat and in the use of his Persona.

Socially, though, he fell back into old habits, acting superior and looking down his nose at many of his peers to establish himself as someone important but also trying to buy and impress his way into 'friendships'. Having Eli and Suzy (two friends he's known for a long time) there helped him be less of an ass, though. He may've endeared himself to some people, but he's more likely to be known for being obscenely wealthy and accomplished than for being likable. He's used to that, though.

This Year: Adam returned to California over the summer and spent his break going on extravagant trips with family and friends. He kept up with training as well as he could, though, and he's ready to get back to stomping Shadows. Earning a leadership position will validate him in all of the worst ways.

Wanted lines:

• Ex-Girlfriend: Adam has a bad habit of ending up in relationships because he feels like he should and because he sees relationships as a social power play with the right girl...but he's a genuinely bad boyfriend that tends to be emotionally and physically distant. He tries and going out with him can have benefits (primarily elaborate gifts and a handsome boy to drag around) but he just never seems that into it. He did this at his former school as a sophomore and it could be interesting to give him another bad relationship at Finchwood last year if anyone's interested in that! This would need to be a senior gal. If nobody's interested, I may give him a former-senior ex that graduated last year.
  
• Art Sensei: While Adam doesn't see himself as creative or artistic, he does like working with his hands and he's good at it from a technical standpoint. He isn't good at coming up with what to work on, though, and he feels out of place in Art and Drama as a result. I think it could be fun for him to have an art buddy to push him to work on and explore this interest. If someone wants to be responsible for needling him into joining Drama, in particular, that'd be lovely.
• Other Stuff: Honestly, I don't have a lot of specific needs for this boy, but I'm open to friends, friendly competition, rivals, past hookups at parties, etc. If you have an idea for this awful boy, let's discuss it!

Scout Thoroughgood

Character Name: Scout Makepeace Thoroughgood
Concept Line: Anxiety-ridden wunderkind who is definitely doing just peachy, thanks.

Brief Summary: Scout is a nice, gay farm boy from a cattle ranch just outside of Mobile, Alabama. He's incredibly driven, both academically and in training, but tries to hide a lot of his work so it looks a little more effortless. He's a pretty anxious person in general, but mostly keeps it under wraps, though he does journal his daily life pretty intensely and is all about having perfectly ironed clothes and an organized space of his own in an attempt to feel in control of his life. He likes people, believes in their ability to be good and also take care of themselves, and tries to remain at least outwardly calm always. Has a strong moral compass, but also is not a crazy wholesome kid who doesn't drink or curse; he can be a little quiet at parties, but he does like to have fun. Can be pretty private about his own struggles, but loves to try to help others' with theirs. He is very bad at sleeping.

Last Year: Upon learning what Finchwood really was about, Scout immediately felt a sense of obligation to do his best to fight Shadows. Though it took a bit for him to adjust (more difficult school, training, general stresses of being away from home and in a dorm situation), he ended up finding his stride. Even if it meant not sleeping very much. He spent a good chunk of last year exploring his sexuality as well, since there were a lot of willing guys.

This Year: Stayed over the summer, though he did go home for about a week just to see his family. Also completed his Eagle Scout project over the summer!! He's ready to do his best this year, and once he hears that he's been made squad leader he'll be excited, proud, and utterly terrified.

• Kisses from last year - This was previously discussed back when we first started the OOC post, but I figure I'll formalize it so I don't forget! Scout did a lot of kissing last year, mostly boys, but an odd girl or two to confirm to himself that he just wasn't into that. It was, at most, a two time thing, and may or may not have been while inebriated at parties. I believe the current list is: Eli, Liam... uh I thought there were more but now I don't see them SO let me know if you want to have smooched him last year/Meggie & Jenny if you want to free your boys from this. Nooo current sophs please ♥
  
• Whatever?? - Scout can use friends?? I guess?? Other things?? He likes to study with people, runs in the morning, and used to play lacrosse. This is not helpful.

Dallas Levy

Character Name: Dallas Andrew Levy
Concept Line: Resourceful, escapist latchkey kid running from small-town life but not getting far.
Year and House: Sophomore Cup
Squad and Position: Squad #2 - Member (Medium)

Extracurriculars: Dance, Gaming, Community Outreach, Choir.

Brief Summary: Dallas is a local to Haling Cove and Very Done with small town Maine. He grew up in a single-parent household and spent a lot of time alone, so he values freedom and independence above almost everything else and he's accustomed to controlling his own life more than most people his age. He dislikes being told what to do and will often push back against authority just to prove he can push back, but he's otherwise a pretty mellow guy that just wants to focus on his own interests, most notably dancing, freerunning, and losing himself in books and games. He's a notorious night owl that often breaks curfew and feels a bit more like a stray cat than a roommate.

Last Year: Dallas only applied to Finchwood Academy after he was offered admission to the Maine Central Institute ballet program but couldn't attend because of the cost and he was ready to do anything that would be different and give him an edge in improving his future. Finding out what the school actually was didn't deter him at all and the sense of excitement and unreality the school brought into his life was very welcome. He did well in combat training, though he was immediately taken in by the artistry of fighting more than he should've been and he's proven to be a show-off that treats training like a performance.

Never the most social guy, Dallas didn't go out of his way to make friends but he was far more interested in his classmates at Finchwood than he had been at his previous school, so he likely made some connections. He also developed a hopelessly one-sided crush on upperclassman Pearl Kline (by far the coolest girl in school!) who...may or may not realize he exists.

This Year: So close and yet so far. Despite being a local, Dallas wasn't able to spend much time at Finchwood Academy this summer and only saw his classmates or participated in formal training from time to time. This is because his father was shorthanded on the lobster boat and needed him to pitch in. He never complained to his dad, but is was a pretty miserable break for him, spent rising early and working hard all day and thinking about all the good he could be doing at school. It was good to spend some time with his dad, though.

Regardless, he's ready to get back to fighting Shadows!

Wanted lines:

• Dance Partners: While Dallas' primary dance partner is Hadlee Loxton (how did he let that happen?), he spends a lot of time in the studio and could use more than one. He'd be especially interested in people that are familiar with ballet or people that can teach him something new. While he's not especially comfortable dancing the girl's part, his small stature (he's only 5'5" and slim) may make that an option in some cases.
  
• Bad Influences: Dallas doesn't try to be a troublemaker but he can definitely be one, given how much he likes to climb things he shouldn't climb, be places he shouldn't be, and wander around at night just because he can. He also finds it difficult to turn down certain types of challenges/dares and can be easily goaded into showing off. It might be fun to lean into this at times.
  
• Other Stuff: I'm bad at these! I don't have any other specific ideas for Dallas, but I'm open to discuss options, especially with other sophomores and other Cups since they're likely to see him a lot.

Concept Line: Ambitious optimist with an unerring smile and no feelings to hurt.

Brief Summary: Neal is searing sunlight, ready to warm you up or burn you depending on the circumstances. He's naturally bright, but proud to the point of arrogance. If you're hungry for attention, Neal showers his friends with it. Despite this, he's a bit hard to get close to, and is deeply emotionally detached. It makes him a very level-headed leader, but troubles him socially.
Last Year: Neal quickly amassed a large amount of friends, and I imagine he's fairly popular, but that's kinda up to you guys not me. Regardless, he acted like one of the popular kids and quickly established himself as fun, social, and ready to have a good time. If he couldn't find the fun, he made the fun. Neal was a go-getter from day one, and is probably known for being an overachiever who's just a liiiiiiittle too proud of his accomplishments. New friends learned that sweet, sunny Neal has a hidden mean streak when crossed, but he hides it well from most people.

Neal also secretly (but friends probably know) dated Flint, then abruptly cut it off and rebounded to Atticus who he dumped right before summer break.

This Year: Neal spent the summer in Egypt with his dad. Now he's back, and suddenly he and Flint are... stepbrothers. Neal insists this is a good thing (it's not a good thing). He's absolutely delighted to be a squad leader and student council president, though, and isn't going to let anyone overlook how accomplished he is.
Wanted lines:

• Exes - Neal likes the idea of dating, but in practice he's not great at it. He dates, realizes he doesn't feel any romantic attraction, and then dumps them. So, if you would like to have a shitty ex-bf who abruptly ended things and had 0 reaction to it, Neal's your guy.
  
• Friends...? - Honestly Neal's pretty full up on close, genuine friends he's willing to be honest with, but he'll potentially befriend anyone on a more surface level!
  
• MENACES - Neal has a healthy sense of humor as Student Council President and is going to keep a board of chronic troublemakers in the club room, like wanted posters with lists of offenses. I might even ask Marin to code it for me so I can update it for real.
  
• Rivals? - He's a petty, passive-aggressive shit when he doesn't like someone but hides it under smiles. If you want a more antagonistic relationship with Neal, I can probably help you out.

Last Year: Made besties with Venus. Her dad taught her most of what she knows so she's high on the combat rating, but low on the bar when it comes to working with her persona. It's frustrating her to no end, so she stayed over the summer to try to improve.
This Year: Since she stayed for the summer she's already moved in and just waiting for everyone else to return. She was probably bored on her own and focused a lot on training to keep busy.

Character Name: Hadlee Loxton
Concept Line: Sugar-powered child beauty queen here to have fun, save lives, etc.
Year and House: Junior Coin
Squad and Position: Squad 5 (Support)
Classes: English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Training. Life Skills, Music, Support.
Extracurriculars: Choir, Community Outreach (simply so she gets outings into town), Dance.

Brief Summary: Hadlee is a (semi-retired?) pageant kid that went from a trailer park to a mansion when she was 4 thanks to her father winning the lotto. That's also when all the crazy pageantry started, and from then until her entry into Finchwood, her mom has been controlling!! Her!! Life!! So that she can win big!! So she came out to Finchwood and decided to just be herself. She's generally peppy, generous, and likes most people, though she can be petty, jealous (love HER best), and pretty immature in some situations with very particular people. Just sort of assumes everyone is her friend by default. Likes candy way too much, wants attention, likes sparkles and pink, and generally tries not to take fighting Shadows too seriously. Has her big brother, Conway, here, as well as her cousin Quincey. Singing is her big pageant thing, but she also does dance to a lesser degree.

Last Year: Hadlee initially thought that fighting scary shit away from home would be a great way to get some awesome independence that she would be amazing at! And it kind of was, except that she didn't really figure out moderation (and still hasn't, really), so there were a lot of hangovers, sick stomachs from too many sweets, and bruises from being a hooligan. Still, she took surprisingly well to being Support, and feels pretty attached to most of her classmates now! Developed a massive crush on Sully.

This Year: Went home over the summer, competed in a few pageants, and fell right back into listening to her mom and letting her tell her what to do. No candy except at pageants, up early every morning to work out, lots of fake tans. Coming back to Finchwood she's feeling a little more serious about being serious, because she's a little frazzled that it was so easy for her to slip back into old habits at home.

• Seniors - Hadlee wants seniors to love her and pay attention to her and give her candy and tell her how great she is, please!! Would you like to do this? Fantastic.
  
• Piano tutor - Hadlee can sooort of play piano, but she's probably at where an 11 year old would be after half a year of lessons. She actually wants to improve her skills, but she sort of pretends like she doesn't... so this would probably have to be someone who would offer to help her of their own accord initially. She'll be a good student, though! If a little whiney!
  
• All the things - She probably made some drunken bad decisions and also thinks she's got a million friends, so, uh, yeah if you want stuff with her!! She is here for you.

Brief Summary: Gothy arty problem child. ♥ music, literature, data science & occult esoterica. A hedonist who flits out of self-isolation to party and laugh at the misfortune of others. Not a great person, but sometimes entertaining. Has a very effective soulless glare.

Last Year: Lucy was referred to FWA by a counselor, saw a chance to escape the horrors of the mundane, and didn't really think twice about it. She's no star pupil, but fell in fairly easily with subjects of interest and/or obsession. Enjoys playing Support. Friends?? Kind of. Lucy is kinda mean and kinda difficult to get to know in a genuine way. More of a slink-around-in-the-shadows kinda gal. But if you vibe, you vibe. I feel like she's snarky, reclusive and disappear-y at school but maybe lets loose at parties. Enemies? Uuhhh probably a couple, though she may not notice. Romantic mistakes? A handful of hook-ups. She was involved with Pearl for a while -- they had a musical project together -- but that blew up, and now she just... is fine, but will never get over it and never forget. But it's okay. It's cool.

This Year: Lucy was here over the summer. It was awesome and she worked herself to the bone. School sucks, bring it on.

Wanted lines: EVERYTHING?? Of course it's like... you never know what things will actually look like till you're playing them out, but uh!! ♥ Yes, everything.

• what is UP with PRINT CLUB. Lucille joined because her dad wanted her to "be more social" and it was a way to appease his stupid wish, + it was the only extracurricular even mildly interesting to her. She's not useless, but?? she's lucy.

• 1 or 2 people who maybe connect with lucy in a gasp actual friends kinda way? it's debatable if she realizes this is the case, but. idk. maybe they bonded over a shared interest or random conversation at a party and now they're edgy buddies with Rebel Interests. orrr perhaps they witnessed lucy in a rare genuine human moment and now they HAVE to be her friend so they'll keep it a secret
  
• i would love a line having to do with rivalry of some kind? lucille is super jealous over subjects she enjoys/is good at, so maybe -- they kinda compete against eachother for KNOWING and DOING THE MOST? lots of sneering and sniping? buuuut under the surface perhaps if they stopped being buttheads they'd get along? that kinda relationship c:

Character Name: Flint Chambers
Concept Line: Small town boy losing himself in battle, looking for himself in words.
Year and House: Senior Coins
Squad and Position: Squad 4, Leader
Classes: English*, Mathematics*, Science*, Social Studies*, Training + Philosophy, Shop, Leadership
Extracurriculars: Athletics, Community Outreach, Gaming, Print Club (president), Student Council

Brief Summary: Highly responsible overachiever with a quicksilver temper. Likes reading, poetry, kickboxing. Best known by reputation as a shy, serious straight-A student with a small circle of friends, but being placed in leadership positions this year will probably end up testing both his rigid moral code and his poor emotional control.
Last Year: Enrolled along with his little brother, Mason, and his childhood best friend, Neal. Crushed it both in class and in training, which didn't leave him much time to get into teen hijinks, although he was in a secret relationship with Neal for a few months, so I'm sure he drank a beer or two. Likely made a handful of good kid friends and got very involved in Print Club, but otherwise kept to himself.
This Year: Went home for the summer and is back and ready for senior year. He's now a squad leader and the president of Print Club, which is going to keep him busy on top of maintaining his GPA and keeping up with his other extracurriculars. He got dumped by Neal (they're stepbrothers now, ouch) so he's going to be doing his best to move on and enjoy his final year of Demon Fighting High School.
Wanted Lines:

Another close friend from last year? I want to keep this number small since Flint wasn't hugely social, so I imagine last year his closest friends were Neal, Scout and Suzy, and maybe one more. If your kid could really use a stick-in-the-mud friend who reminds you about homework deadlines and tries to stop you from dying, then Flint's your boy. Or if you're like super straightlaced and need another straightlaced friend, lmao.

SQUAD 4. Okay so! There's only three of us right now but I imagine Flint wasn't that acquainted with either Emma or Eli before they were assigned to the same squad. This year, he'll be making a big effort to befriend them! So if either of you have some thoughts on that I'd love to hear it c:

PRINT CLUB. What would your character be most interested in handling? Flint is very encouraging of whatever it is people want to write for the school paper although obviously he's going to plead with you to make it school-appropriate. If your character really doesn't know what they're doing, then Flint could assign stories to you maybe :o

What's up with Senior Coins? I know there's not a lot of us yet but what's the dynamic!! Do they get along?

I'd be super interested to see how the new squad leaders all vibe this year but this is probably something we'll explore in play?

Nora Lee

Character Name: Nora Lee
Concept Line: Timid mouse dreams of roaring like a lion.

Brief Summary: Nora is a shy, sweet, incredibly anxious girl from Brooklyn. She uses being a busybody to distract herself from dwelling on her personal struggles and is eager to help out and be a shoulder to cry on. She's a very strong supporting player - in her squad, in her clubs, in her relationships - but needs to build the confidence to take on a lead role. She was extremely close to her older sister who passed away from cancer roughly two years ago and she's been using her time at Finchwood to largely escape from wallowing in that loss. She has a very Kindergarden teacher energy to her and is picking up the slack for all of you monsters.

Last Year: Nora threw herself wholeheartedly into her training and I imagine that she's on a casual level of friendship with most of the Junior class. Overall Finchwood has been the very strong distraction that it was hoped to be. She maybe made a few close friends and was generally a fixture at social events on the sidelines. Probably participated in the chorus of the school musical last year!

This Year: Nora tried going home but returned to Finchwood for the summer almost immediately. She's very eager for school to start up again properly and will be absolutely thrown for a loop about her appointment to squad second. But everything's fine!! Really!!

Wanted lines:

• Friends - As noted above, I imagine Nora's on light social terms with most of her class, but I would definitely be interested in a couple people that can truly be classified as friends/close friends.
• Training Friends - These are probably way less scary than real friends!!! Nora is very into training and was here over the summer.

Brief Summary: Painfully awkward math genius. Eli oozes discomfort and is terrible at reading the room. He's shy but not quiet, and once you win him over (which isn't hard) he's a motormouth. He has a dry sense of humor, and love love looooooves his friends. His relationships are the most important thing in his life. He has terrible judgement, though, and is a constant disaster of his own making. He's disorganized, perpetually 5 minutes late, never sleeps when he should, and is prone to dark, gloomy moods. Eli crushes easily, especially on people who are certified Terrible Ideas. He's very focused on Emma, Sully and Rose. He's also very good with cars!

If you google Eli, you'll find 2 things. A) his mom's a lifestyle blogger who once upon a time blogged about her decision to let him transition pre-puberty, and B) he's the subject of some feel-good articles about a trans teen who swept several national math competitions and was granted a scholarship to MIT.

Last Year: Eli was Adam's shadow. He spent most of his time following his friend around, and inevitably to parties. Despite being shy, Eli likes to party hard and can be pretty self-indulgent. He's long since stopped objecting to Adam spoiling him with monetary gifts. He definitely did a lot of stupid drunk kissing. For the first time, though, he started making more friends.
This Year: Eli's pretty happy to be back? His friends are here, and sure, the shadow thing is scary but it's also kind of neat.
Wanted lines:

• Hookups - Eli doesn't sleep around because he feels like every time things get hot and heavy he has to stop and uhhh explain some things, but he's not a virgin. If someone would like to say they were his first time or that they've had a fling with him, we should talk!!!

Brief Summary: Emma was raised in an isolated small town in West Virginia, in the middle of what’s called the National Radio Quiet Zone. Basically, you can’t transmit shit because scientists are trying to listen to space, don’t scare off the aliens. Her mom’s a trucker, grandma’s a badass, she’s one of four girls, and they’re all kind of fucko hillbillies who like to climb trees, drive fast, shoot guns, and troll the poor souls responsible for monitoring rogue radio transmissions. Emma’s outgoing and confident; she’s not terribly warm but not in a mean way, she’s just kind of a shallow, surface-level friend that will text you at 2 AM to talk about aliens but not to ask if you’re okay or whatever. She thinks she’s hilarious and will fight you if you wanna go it don’t matter to her. Comes across as not terribly bright, but definitely a resourceful person and keeps a cool head in a crisis, as long as you can keep her from just running straight into the jaws of death.

Last Year: Oh, man, Emma was all ABOUT fighting Shadows. She was STOKED because she’s pretty terrible at school, but she can throw the fuck down. I imagine most first impressions of her are either love her or hate her, and she doesn’t reeeeally go out of her way to change your mind about her. It is what it is homie, she don’t give a fuck. There were some things that were kind of overwhelming, because she’d never really left home for more than a couple days before, and try as they might to get around it, there’s no cell signal in Green Bank, and her only internet is a dialup connection she got a couple years ago. But Emma picked up the important shit and knows how to text and spend all night watching Buzzfeed Unsolved on her phone.

This Year: Emma stayed over the summer because Green Bank is isolated as fuck and she wanted to keep bludgeoning monsters. She’d have to share a room back home anyways and here she can use a cell phone here, so fuck it. Can’t wait for squad shit to start up, though she’s going to have a hell of a time adjusting to being a second, because leading and following at the same time is, uh, going to be a learning process.

And then he applied for the farthest free school from his mother as soon as possible.

I mean, he can also play the piano pretty fucking well, i guess.

Conway is like that grumpy cat meme. He doesn't look particularly happy ever, unless there's some kind of bleeding involved. He's pretty alright to talk to, but it's a struggle.
Last Year: Conway adapted to this school amazingly last year. It offered him every aspect he wanted out of normal school. No bullshit classes + violence. His social game can probably use some work tho.
This Year: Conway went home for the summer, and unlike Hadlee, he didn't fall into the normal situation he'd left. He was less shitty to his parents, less argumentative, he started playing the piano again. Over the summer, he basically just seemed like Conway on Xanax. He was chill as fuck.

He also got a summer job, and that was cool too.

Training bros: Training is another easy route to getting on his good side. He digs that shit, and will train with just about anyone, even people he doesn't initially like. If you train with him, eventually, you're cool by him. And in training, he's also at his least douchebag state; he's not a dick about training.

Being successful is a little nebulous for her, and doesn't equate to academic achievement; Kyra's not that book smart and doesn't really enjoy learning, but gets A's anyway. She's calm, quiet, methodical, and has a deep-set fond streak for one too many people. She's a stress baker who will just as quickly bake you a cake as steal your wallet.
Last Year: Kyra took last year as Her Shot (tm) that she couldn't throw away. Being admitted into somewhere so prestigious without having to be genius-smart was a huge stroke of luck, and she took advantage. She did everything to improve her form, learn her weapon, and become familiar with her persona. She shopped around socially a little, too, acquainting herself with the rich kids (heyyy Adam, heyyy Marna) and trying to get in good with them, whatever that took. She probably made a few friends, but it was never unclear why she was here.
This Year: She wanted to stay over the summer, but Kyra's really attached to her parents, and her father depends on her for a lot, so she went home. Kyra practiced as she could over the summer and she's back and READY AND WAITING to get at those Shadows.

Other Flavors Of Friends for Kyra include people she pretends to be exasperated by but dotes on helplessly (this...is how I imagine her+ Jr Wands, hope that's fine,) and Business Associates who she respects deeply but will only ever show a very hard, polished side.

RIVALRIES: Probably a few more of these, though they might exist only in her own mind. This wouldn't be necessarily academic; she knows she isn't a supersmart. Last Year: Finchwood was kind of a snap decision for Venus, who was previously intending on going to a performing arts boarding school. But once she knew the truth, she just couldn't turn down a chance at heroics. But Venus had no kind of combat experience or anything that translated into it easily, and she initially struggled with training. Easily discouraged, she instead entrenched herself in social and extracurricular activities, and thanks to that she's the drama president and on student council this year.

This Year: She stayed over the summer to get caught up training-wise, and made big leaps when she was actually able to apply herself instead of worrying about the next school dance or who thought she was cute. She was not very good at fighting at the end of last year, and people who didn't stay over the summer are most likely unaware that she's improved.

The Ex. Venus got her heart broken by a big jerk first semester last year and now she doesn't date anymore.

Drama Club! She's your president. She's equal parts bridezilla and dance mom when it comes to school productions, but she's being gently encouraged to take on a more supportive role this year.

Print Club! She writes horoscopes and does yearbook photography. If Flint ever forces her to contribute an actual article to the paper, it'll be about something deeply stupid. She loves reading star charts and doing tarot readings for people, and held a staunch belief in the occult even before she knew magic was real. She deadass thinks astrology is accurate and I'm sorry for it.

Student Council! She's your de facto Events chairperson, but she'll also go on a little bit of a power trip when she realizes she's a rule enforcer now. She's not an out-and-out bad kid, but she is a dumbass, and she'll probably be more forgiving of certain things than other student council members, but also... you have to do what she says? She's the man now?

Summer kids. I'd like for her to know them a little better than everyone else, because she was able to kind of let up her facade and just focus on doing hard work over the summer.

Brief Summary: Marty is a sociable asshole who gravitates towards what entertains him, and what entertains him most seems to be laughing and punching. He's irreverent, callous, and can't stand a whiner.
Last Year: Marty took the discovery of what Finchwood was in stride. Monsters and shit? Sure, why not? While he has never and likely will never do that well academically, he took to training and fighting like a fish to water. Giving him a purpose even helped with his behavior some. Or maybe it just kept him too busy and tired to get into as much trouble as he was used to.

He easily made friends with the type of people that can stand him, and wasn't put out to have found plenty of the opposite sort of people too. It's not his fault they're boring and sensitive. He was also a staple at parties. He was totally willing to make out with girls or boys, but never seemed interested in anything serious.
This Year: Marty went home for the summer, and he was so damn bored. He's excited that school's starting back for once, though he's less excited that his little brother is coming too.

Friends! Marty easily befriends people who are comfortable being teased, ready to dish it back, and hard to offend. Bonus for people with a disregard for the rules and a penchant for partying.
Enemies! Honestly this should be like 90% of the school, he's bad.
Fight! People that he has fought with, or regularly fights with. You might expect that this should belong under "enemies" but not necessarily. Marty likes to fight. He thinks it's fun. You would think he get enough of it during training and fighting shadows, but nope. While he would be willing to fight enemies, he also wouldn't be upset with a friend who broke his nose. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ He would rather pick on people his own size, so to speak, and fight people who are also into it, but he's not above goading either (hey, your shirt is stupid, wanna fight about it?).
Dance! Marty is in dance club. You wouldn't assume it, but Marty is a competitive ballroom dancer. He's interested in other styles of dance, too, it's just that the type he knows is the type of class his parents stuck him in to keep him busy and out of trouble. It would be nice to have some regular dance partners, or maybe some people to teach/learn from about new kinds of dance.
Math Tutor? Marty is astonishingly bad at math, and seems to have a hard time grasping even simple concepts. His disinterest in the subject does not help. They probably had to drag his lifeless corpse across the finish line at finals time last year.

Last Year: He acclimated so fast it was probably concerning. He just has the natural personality of a child soldier. He wasn't trained in any kind of combat before coming to school, but has applied himself daily since he's been here. He works really hard, but is quiet about it. He's not braggy or competitive. He just does his most every day. This is also true of his schoolwork (straight A's), extracurriculars (he started gardening at the beginning of last year and now has a knack for it), and social life (DND character is IMPECCABLY min-maxed, sorry Liam).

This Year: He went back to Pearl's house and did a junior EMT program. The diversion was nice, and it gave him time to clear his head, but now he's ready to get going again. Having a squad is just going to make him all the fussier about safety. Before he was just making sure Dustin didn't die (which? exhausting), now he's got all these idiots to watch after.

She's super thoughtful, speaks slowly because she thinks before she says anything, and she's a stick-to-your-guns kind of person. Try and convince her to stray from her path too harshly and she'll double down on it. She's not opposed to branching out, it just needs to be approached in the right way. That being said, she has emotions and understands other people has them, so she tries her best to take the appropriate responding emotion to any given situation. As a leader & with her roommates, she takes the 'restorative practices' approach to things and is super kind to the people she spends time with the most. Like a little cheerleader.
Last Year: She did not adjust well? She kept her head down - she focused on work, training, being the best she could be. She threw herself so fully into the school and the work, her social game suffered. But then, it always had. She was fine with that.
This Year: She did not stay over the summer, but spent it at home and re-evaluated her life goals. She's still very into what they're doing at the school, her school work, etc, but she has put more emphasis on the social aspect of things and hopes to adjust more into the heart of the school, as opposed to just the brain.

Brief Summary: Okay, first off, Marzio is only ten minutes younger than his twin sister, so jot that down. Now that we’ve taken care of THAT, let’s move on. The Sarnos used to be one of you extravagantly wealthy folks, doing all that east coast yuppie bullshit, like polo and yachting and wearing pink shorts. Buuuut it, uh, turns out they were living well beyond their means and Papa Sarno was embezzling from his workplace to finance that lifestyle. Someone probably should have taught him to steal better, because he got caught and basically everything went to shit when the twins were in eighth grade. So Marzio is a newly broke brat who has never really had to live this, ugh, poor people lifestyle?

Marzio is sensitive, but used to being told to MAN UP, and he’s not sure what to do now that the person who was always telling him to man up is in jail?? He’s pretty sure a “real man” acts like his older brother, who’s a real King Fuckboi, so he tries to follow his lead and it just makes him insufferably vain. He also has a lot of resentment toward his dad for fucking the family over in a lot of ways, and also a little bit for not giving him enough approval or attention, so he is in the market for new father figures. Hello, yes, will you pat him on the head and tell him he’s doing a good job???

Last Year: This was not what Marzio signed up for, and he does not know what the fuck he’s doing, but he’s not going back to Greenwich. If he goes back to Greenwich, they will probably end up trying to pitch a Sarno family reality show and he just cannot. The reality of the situation scared the shit out of Marzio long before he ever actually saw a Shadow, and he almost definitely tried to hide behind someone. I’m sure he made friends and wanted to make romantic mistakes but??? Not necessary.

This Year: Uh, he definitely went home to his (sister’s) cat. Going back home for the summer is fine, though not ideal, because his old friends back home like to “forget” to invite him to the yacht or the country club which is rude/completely understandable. So while school is kind of terrifying and he has to share his room, it’s nice to go back there after spending the summer at home. Also, now that there are squads, he has several parental figures to look up to and try to appease. Hi guys, love him???

Brief Summary: Kodi's a hard-working city girl who expects a lot from herself and lives in a constant state of stress and near-burnout as a result. She's a playful, adoring, and protective friend but she treads the line into overprotective quite a lot. She believes in what's Morally Right but where rules concern her ability to enjoy her life things are a little more hazy. She's stubborn and has a selfish streak and is quick to judge other people. She also likes to bottle up her feelings. Which is fun. When she schedules time for fun, though, she lets LOOOSE. Aaaand she has a short temper.

Last Year: Fighting was easy to learn because she's no stranger to fist fights, but strategy is a constant battle. She made sure that the faculty IMMEDIATELY knew she was there for The Best Grades and To Succeed. She was (and still is) intensely homesick but she tried to make friends off the bat -- she often treats friends like family fairly quickly. As for romance, she definitely would have been looking for a good time but girl's got some commitment issues so the moment the other person mentioned being serious or "love" or like anything, she was O U T OUT. So yes, she might have an ex or whatever.

This Year: She went home to make sure her siblings didn't burn down Pittsburgh while she was gone. She's looking forward to coming back to school and making a difference (as she sees it) but she's not keen to leave her family again.

Wanted lines: EVERYTHING??

• Friends! Study buddies who share her zero tolerance work policy. Close friends she can hang off of at every opportunity. She gravitates toward both people who balance her, and people who are similar to her. Which is. uh. vague. Sorry.
• Academic rival! She wants to be The Best but it DOESN'T mean that she wants to see other people fail... she just wants to make sure she's at the top. She can share the top. This could be someone who DOES want to see other people fail, or someone who's super coasting and distracting other people. Kodi will GLARE at you A LOT.
• ✅ An ex! Just one! Someone Kodi was into but ran away from as soon as things seemed like they were getting Serious.
• FWB! One or two! No feelings allowed!!!
• ✅ English tutor! She's a straight-A student because she works hard but WOW DOES SHE EVER HATE ENGLISH. IT'S THE WORST??? Someone really awesome at English who's been tutoring her in it would be helpful :* She mostly scowls at her textbooks and stabs through the papers.
• ✅ (Added later!!) Cooking Tutor! Yes, really! Kodi's in Life Skills and she's fine at it except that she is the WORST COOK EVER. She burns water. She needs a senior who's talented in cooking/baking and in Life Skills whom she would have approached last year for DESPERATE COOKING HELP. Patience is necessary, sense of humour an asset. Imagine once-weekly cooking sessions where Kodi tries her hardest but still sets something on fire -- that's what you'd be signing on for.
