Brief Summary:
- QUIET BUT NOT SHY. Always around people but rarely the centre of attention.
- FIRST STABLE SCHOOL! Luke's moved around his whole life and this will be the first time he's spent a whole two years in one place, and knowing he'll be here for another two. He's slow to make lasting friends because he's never had to do it before.
- "TRUTH" IS A SOCIAL CONSTRUCT. He likes big stories. He's NOT a compulsive liar and doesn't expect to be believed, but you can bet that pretty much any fact he shares about himself or anything he knows is completely untrue. It's his way of having fun.
Last Year:- He was quiet, he didn't try to make a lot of friends. It took him some time to warm up to the idea of fighting shadows but he's pretty into the idea of being the hero... you know, eventually.
- (And no, he never joined in STB or dated or anything.)
This Year:- He stayed the summer! Yeah!!! It was a point of contention between him and his parents, but heeeeyyyy he likes it here and it was quiet, which was also kind of unnerving but it gave him a lot of time to read and browse Reddit and explore Haling Cove.
Wanted lines: What are you in the market for? Friends, enemies, smooch buddies, a training pal?- 1–2 GENERAL PALZ. Like I said, he's slow to make friends, and very particular about the people he lets in. Right now he's only attached to his dorm mates. I'm thinking just one or two more people he would have latched onto? He won't be as close to them as he is to Marzio and Shiloh, but it's still nice to have people that might actually see him smile once a month.
- UNLIKELY SUMMER PAL. Someone who was here over the summer that he might not normally be friends with, but the lack of people around means eventually they got to know each other, and Luke considers them his close friend. Only one! And ngl I might be picky about this bc Luke is soooo picky.
- JAM PALZ. He plays the bass guitar! And the bassoon, but that's not as cool. And he got a Moog and has been figuring out how to play all the most pointless songs???
- PARKOUR PALZ. He thinks he's into parkour because he climbs trees and tries to jump over things. Does anybody want to scrape their knees with him.

Brief Summary: CC is a dreamy lil marshmallow from the enchanted city of Detroit who loves sports, cars, video games and photography. She's generally sweet, well-meaning but head-in-the-clouds with a mildly inconsistent character, mostly because all the good things about her (bravery, adaptability, openness, etc) are fueled by the core of general ambivalence that also makes her... horrible. :) Everything's just fine. It's all good. She loves people deeply, accepts them for who they are, and is extremely easily dragged along on stupid adventures, but is also a horrible secret-keeper unless you make it very clear what she is NOT to say. Here are her listed personality traits for a better picture:
Last Year: Clarissa had a weird time! There was a bit of an adjustment period with getting used to her persona and the rigorous schedule at FWA, which she eventually conquered. She dealt with this by making friends and trying to have fun in her downtime, but also missed her brothers back home very very much. :c
This Year: CC did NOT stay over the summer and considered not coming back at all, even though really the first year wasn't all that bad (it was more of a random thought than anything rooted in actual discomfort). She did return, though, and has spent the last month or so with her head down, training very hard. Less shenanigans so far!! But now that we've picked her story up again, we'll see. ♥

Brief Summary: Selby's a friendly, empathetic soft boy from South Carolina and the (new!) president of the Gardening Club. He likes other people but is more interested in being a supportive friend and a helpful guy than being the center of attention and he tends to get awkward when there's too much focus on him (he's a recovering Shy Kid). He's not academically or physically or artistically gifted and has never really excelled at anything, but he works hard enough to get by and his real strength is in his patience and resilience. He knows a lot about nature (from gardening to camping to obscure nature facts) and he likes crafts, especially when he can make something that will brighten someone's day. Even before coming to Finchwood, he was open to the idea of the unknown and the supernatural.
Last Year: While his heart was always in the right place, Selby was thoroughly unprepared for the reality of Finchwood Academy and he spent last year trying to become someone that's strong enough mentally, emotionally, and physically to do what they need to do. It was hard but rewarding too...even if he's still trailing many of his classmates in terms of ability. He likes the school, thinks a lot of his peers, and probably made a few good friends last year. It's maybe worth noting that Selby was out of shape/overweight when he started at Finchwood last year but the combination of training, a new commitment to being healthier, and a growth spurt kind of has him looking like a different person. Don't look at him. He's going to hide in his hair.
This Year: Selby returned home over the summer to spend time with his family/friends and to unwind after his first year at Finchwood. He also got a part-time job with a florist! While he'd been ready to come back to Haling Cove, the revelation that they'd be forming squads and going into the Shadow World was overwhelming to him. Even after getting through the first exploration in one piece, it's still overwhelming to him. But he's doing his best!

Brief Summary: Zinnia is the girl next door, the one who was going to be Homecoming Queen and marry the football star. She's beautiful, smart, and a little mean. But Zinnia wanted to be a hero more than a small town beauty, so now she's at Finchwood. Zinnia's always believed herself to be unique, which is no surprise considering her fascination with death. Things Zinnia enjoys: photographing dead animals, gore makeup, corpse capers, bullying boys.
Last Year: Zinnia had a rough adjustment period, because she was used to being the smartest, prettier, most unusual girl in town. Now everyone here is smart, hot and weird. She didn't like being part of the herd, but didn't feel like she ever managed to prove herself as exceptional.
This Year: She didn't stay the summer, but now wonders if she should have, since she's the worst fighter on her squad. She's got a bit of a chip on her shoulder about that.

Brief Summary:
Last Year: Super tightly wound and anxious, Sabrina responded by throwing herself into every class and club and training she could squeeze in. While she's never really been the one solely responsible for her schedule, she took to it easily, and then completely overdid it. Check her binders, she has way too many color-coded to-do lists. The idea of Monster Fighting School was... weird, and she wasn't sure how to, like, reconcile that with her very practical mindset, but she likes beating things up for a Good Cause, so that was good.
This Year: Sabrina went back to Denver for the summer, because she missed her dysfunctional family. By the end of the summer she remembered why she ran across the country for school and was ready to get back to this monster fighting bullshit. She was annoyingly stoked to be made a squad leader, even though it's... baby squad, cool, that's cool, she's doing great with this. Loves it. Thumbs up fam.
Wanted lines: I'm very bad at planning in advance because I like to see dynamics in play before I pin down like best friends and stuff like that, but! Maybe an academic rival or two! People she tutors? Maybe a running or workout buddy? Also people in her clubs!! She's probably a terror in all of them!!

Brief Summary: Weird insufferable horse girl who's super into social justice and "Being Nice" even though she's kind of a judgmental a-hole. Meredith thinks she's smarter than absolutely everyone else, and even though she endeavors to hide it, it shows. A creative genius, she aspires to be an author, but also excels at music and art. She loves puzzles and basically lives on her handheld gaming devices playing turned-based strategy games and puzzle games, an activity she VASTLY prefers to socializing. But even though she doesn't "hang out" with people, she has an opinion about absolutely everything and will still be up in their business whenever she sees fit.
Also, she collects bugs. Sorry to her future roommates for the nightmare decor.
Last Year: This is going to depend a little on what her friend situation was, but I tentatively imagine: not much better for her than her last school was, and she was crushingly disappointed by that. But she tried really hard at class and with shadow stuff first semester, and then tried to loosen up second semester. I have no idea what that looked like for her. Probably not very impressive. But maybe she made a friend!!! We'll see.
This Year: She did NOT stay over the summer. She went to horse camp and she had an amazing time. Horses are better than people. But she's still stoked to be back, and squads are an exciting new development for her, even if squad 10 has been kinda eating it so far.
Wanted lines: I'm gonna hit up her squadmates since they're all new, buuuut other supports? She's a little bit of a competitive monster in support class, so she's probably a pain to deal with. Can't wait to bug them all more!!!
Friendships are probably going to be scarce, but she does have a couple "classroom friends", which are people she's academically competitive but friendly with. A little less antagonistic than frenemies, but she doesn't really hang out with them on weekends. She also possibly has one friend she made last year during spring semester, but I'm waffling on that. Let me know if you have a pitch for it tho!
Also I really want her to run a Star Wars: Force and Destiny tabletop game set in the Old Republic if that's something people might be into. I know there were some people who didn't fit into Liam's DND campaign. Let me know if there's IC interest!

Brief Summary: Richie's an outdoorsy kid/sportsball player raised in Eastern Kentucky coal country always ready to go on the next big adventure. Easygoing, energetic, and full of good humor. He's heavily ruled by his heart, for better or worse, and had a turbulent childhood where he spent a lot of years being a dick, but now he's trying to be a better person. Also, his Persona is a frog knight riding a giant mechanical crab and if this school had LARP club, he would immediately sign up. Yes, this really is important!!!
Last Year: He did well! I imagine he settled into shadow fighting and the social scene very easily. Academically, he, uh, tried. Coming to Finchwood was a chance to escape things being Not Great at home, so he definitely took advantage of New School, New You.
This Year: Richie was tempted back home for the summer by a promise that his father really wanted to see him. He never showed up. Richie's trying to play it cool about the whole summer. He's excited to be back with his roommates who he's deeply fond of. He is almost certainly a significant contributing factor in squad 10 eating it so badly during maze training. Crab surfing really ought to win some style points?

- Tutors?? He could basically use a tutor in any subject. He's cut class a lot in the past and is behind academically.
- Party Smooches. Hi, I finally have a child that will do proper party kisses last year/this year. So. There's that. Due to his tendency towards Big Feels he proooobably has avoided any sort of dating/serious entanglements. But hit me up if you have an idea, I guess?
- D&D. Jenny's letting me smush him into Liam's already giant campaign. I.. still need to figure out what he plays but god, it's probably a fighter with a Cloud Strife sword.

Brief Summary: Extroverted, cares about how she appears to others, wants to be looked up to and admired like all those glamorous girls but she is basically a sidekick. She's not a leader. She's empathetic and good at reading people/picking up on their needs, which makes her able to fit in with different people. Confident, but does not have her stuff together. Likes being around people, very easily influenced. Smart, but more in an intuitive way, though she does do well in school. Basically just love her and she'll be fine.
Last Year: It was a bit of an adjustment, especially the Support thing. She found that to be a lot of pressure, though she oddly enough excelled at it. She found herself loving the school, despite the scary seriousness of all the shadow fighting business. It definitely felt like a place where you could really stand out as special and figure out who she is without her older sister. Though she was homesick at the beginning. No romantic mistakes, though she did find herself taking the opportunity to explore.
This Year: She did not stay over the summer. She missed her family too much for that. Ryan is excited to be back, though, and eager to get back into the swing of things by training hard and learning more. She also missed her friends/roommates/everything so. She's happy to be back.
Wanted lines: ANYTHING! A couple good friends, a couple people she looks up to/tends to follow loyally, study buddies, smooch buddies, everything really!

Brief Summary: Introverted kid that is definitely trying to convince everyone he's a psychic, and it's super duper unclear if he actually believes in occult stuff! His mom is a psychic and he's helped her do her job since he was a kid. He's pretty good at reading people, which is how he can sometimes actually come off like he is a psychic. Spooky! From Tacoma, WA. Likes blanket forts, true crime novels, psychology, murder tv shows, magic tricks, and video games. Kills every plant he touches, but kind of just followed Liam into Gardening because he thinks Liam is cool :( Generally pretty quiet, but can be very charismatic when he's doing divination-y techniques. Only likes to be around a few people at a time that he's close to. Kind of a duckling sometimes. Moderately freaked out by his Persona. Hates romantic attention.
Last Year: Shiloh is not a Brave Kid but he did his best to, like, not be freaked out by Shadow stuff! He also never really had a lot of friends or was around kids his age much, so being at Finchwood (and away from his mom) was a HUGE adjustment. He found that he really liked it though, really liked his roommates, and found some pretty cool weird kids to look up to!
This Year: He's very excited to be back, and is very freaked out by this Shadow World nonsense. But!! You know!! You just kind of have to roll with the punches when you're saving the world or something. He's joined Gardening this year and is going to be bad.
Wanted lines:
Weird kids: If your kid is weird and will accept that Shiloh is going to tell them he's a psychic and might use tea leaf readings to dunk on them, please apply within! Outside of Finchwood he was a little self-conscious about his mom being a psychic, but he's learning to embrace it here!
Friiiends?: He's kind of introverted so I don't imagine he has a TON of friends, but it's possible he might mesh with your kid??

Brief Summary: Tal grew up as a carnie; she knows which games are rigged and the best ways to reel in marks. But as thrilling as the hardscrabble road life is, she'd rather be a musician and a normal teenager. She's just not... very good at the latter. Tal is all rough edges; proud, competitive, stubborn, and always down to fight. Full app here.
Last Year: Adjusted badly to structure and routine, but she got real good at fighting Shadows. Probably made both friends and enemies, since she has an abrasive but very extroverted personality. Romantic mistakes uh PROBABLY NOT although I do think it would be funny if she had a bad idea crush on someone. :|a
This Year: Went back home for the summer and had the uncomfortable realization that she doesn't really fit in anymore, so she's back at Finchwood, determined to make it work. Like, socially? Maybe she can make friends whom she doesn't punch in the shoulder every time she sees them.

Year and House: Senior, Cups

Brief Summary: +Laid back, adaptable, non-judgmental. / Physical, loud, doesn't take things seriously. - Depressive, explosive temper, shallow. Wally is a troubled kid. He grew up homeless his entire life. The only time he had a bed to sleep in was in a shelter or his brief stint in foster care. He's a tough shell to crack - he seems very laid back, go with the flow and fun-loving on the outside but he's definitely got a blind-rage seeing-red sort of violence problem. He doesn't like it, it's just part of him. He's very loud and very affectionate - he likes to be in constant contact with people. He's the kind that's just gonna hold all his friends' hands because it makes him feel grounded, you know? Read the more drawn out version here.
Last Year: This was the first real stability (with any sense of permanence) Wally's had in his life. He's never lasted anywhere for a year, so it was kind of a personal goal to not get kicked out. He adjusted as well as he could - he's behind in classes. He should have already graduated but he tested too low. He worked hard and only failed some of his classes though, so he's pretty proud of himself. Training etc was all kind of secondary - it was the 'price to be paid' if he was going to have a bed and, essentially, a home. I definitely feel he made some friends, had some questionable encounters, pissed some people off, etc.
This Year: He stayed over summer and oh man, having the room basically to himself was a first and he was about it. Having to share again is not something he wants to do but it's something he is incredibly used to. He missed having people around though, summer was lonely in comparison to the rest of the year. Not enough bodies around, not enough conversation to distract him. He's ready to have fun!

— Double denim. Chapstick in her fanny pack and dirt under her fingernails. Loves a tiny pumpkin. The ones that are mad small. You know the ones I mean.
— Also loves her rifle b/c she's a champion sharpshooter. Paintball, anyone?
— Baby girl had childhood cancer (and is now 100% fine), but was basically never socialised as a result. Parents haven't said "no" to her since she was 3. Was hospital-schooled, then home-schooled, then hello, FWA. Learned how to talk to humans from peeping on people in waiting rooms and grocery stores and also watching her dad pull his very successful "just a simple country lawyer" routine in court.
— Has therefore concluded that people like simple country girls who remind them of their mothers and this is her best approximation. Genuinely is this autumnal earth girl, but also, is a lot sharper than she's letting on. Book smart! Eagle-eyed! Not actually that nice! From wealthy, urban Atlanta!
— Not confrontational in a school of fighty assholes, so your kid might think she's easy-going, but no. No, no, no, no, no. Lmao. BIG stubborn.
Last Year: Just trying to dip her toe in every pool. Loving being around human beings. Loving that no one here thinks she's fragile. Trying everything, getting in the way, and probably making some social boo-boos. Did some exciting experimental kisses, maybe? Not interested in running with any of you 5am weirdos!!!
This Year: She went back to her mom and dad and kicked it in ATL, but she's glad to be back because her life is sort of empty/sterile at home — two words she absolutely hates.

Brief Summary:
Last Year: Despite her apparent loathing of her brother, she remained firmly tucked in his shadow. Arthur has always recognized that Hamsi is kind of lost without him, so he put up with it. Mostly whirlwind socialized and made herself a nuisance. Did a remarkable job of keeping intact her utter space alien-ness.
This Year: Hamsi came back more apprehensive about how she was going to function without a family member around to define her than about shadow world shit. She prefers her roommates to her younger brothers anyway, so that was an enjoyable thing to return to. She thinks exploring the shadow world is sick as hell like an rl video game.
Wanted lines: AHhhhhh shiiiiit. I'll come back and add some ...after work sob. But she needs friends and squad 10 stuff and soph stuff and swords stuff. Also if there's anyone who wants to have crushed on/dated Arthur last year and have that be a line ...I'm potentially open.

Mason is FLINT’S BABY BROTHER!!!! He’s quite friendly, but doesn’t go out of his way to be outgoing. However, if he sees you’re into something he’s into, he WILL chatter at you incessantly, whether you seem to want that or not. He’s a big ol’ nerd, with a lot of nerdy interests that change by week.
Last Year: Mason took the reveal in stride, and in fact was super into the idea of this whole magic kids fighting evil thing, because it’s just like all his shows and books. They can do REAL MAGIC, you guys??? AWESOME!! But also, he’s not a natural fighter, and he had a lot harder time with combat training. He still low key thinks someone made a mistake and he was supposed to be a support.
This Year: Mason’s skills have improved since last year, so he’s looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. Hey, squads are a thing now, that’s cool too. He’s on his big brother’s squad, what could possibly go wrong there?
