YES ABSOLUTELY! It for suuure is and it makes the whole process kind of meditative and mindless after a while. The half-black half-white circle in the bottom of the layers menu lets you make image adjustments as layers that you can turn on and off.
So I just adjust a screencap from the start of the scene until it's right, duplicate it and flatten/save the duplicate as a finished icon. Then each subsequent screencap I just paste into the original image, on top of the previous screencap but beneath all the layer masks. That way the vast majority of the image adjusting is already done for me and I can usually just sharpen and save. But the layer masks make it easier to quickly tweak stuff, I think.
