i had a hot garbage GPA in high school and the CSU i ended up going to is one my grandfather taught at and basically my entire family has matriculated at, which i definitely put on my application, so i feel like that had something to do with it

Being from a small poor town and having all the adults in your life suddenly go from "YOU CAN DO ANYTHING" to telling you at 17 to temper your expectations, look at public schools only and don't even bother with out of state because you'll never be able to afford tuition is ... Definitely a formative experience.

Scream I hear that. And then since you’re 17 you’re stubborn and apply for expensive private schools only and still are drowning in debt as a result (the Lyss Story now on lifetime!)

I got the same exact numerical score on the math portion as I did the English portion and I almost flipped the table because I was convinced it meant that I bombed the English? But then someone actually explained that your score is less relevant than your ~percentile~, and it turned out that the English test was just harder, so that I scored in like the 50th percentile in math and the 90th in English?

It's such a whack test, man.
